PC-12 NGX OPTIMISATIONS
The new PT6E-67XP engine by Pratt & Whitney introduces full-authority digital engine controls (FADEC) to the turboprop market. The 67XP is Pratt & Whitney’s latest foray into turboprop engine automation, including push-button start, autothrottle, and digitalisation of the MOR, Emergency Descent Mode, and a Crew Alerting System.
The FADEC engine provides an automated and self-functioning reporting system between Pratt & Whitney Canada and the aircrafts’ engine. Post-flight engine data is transmitted back to Pratt & Whitney upon landing for diagnosis and monitoring, working to ensure any maintenance requirements are spotted ahead of any AOG situations.
Another NGX innovation is the low-prop speed mode, introducing a 1550-RPM setting. The new low-prop speed mode is a single button on the center console, reducing RPM from 1700 to 1550 working to introduce a quieter cabin.
The new BMW Designworks cabin includes quick-release and fully-reclining seats, offering owners the ability to efficiently amend the configuration from an executive to cargo layout with ease. Embracing the digital upgrades of the NGX, new USB charging points are now present along with universal AC charging units, replacing the USA-specific ACs on the NG.
You’ll appreciate the Swiss craftsmanship and attention to detail presented in the form of custom hand-sewn leather, exclusive hardwood cabinetry, and fine upholstery that abound throughout the PC-12 NGX.
Changes to the fuel system mean that the PC-12 NGX does away with the need for Prist to be manually added to the fuel, as required on the NG. Fuel on the NGX now passes through an oil-to-fuel heat exchanger, working to further reduce pilot workload.
As a result of the new enhancements, the PT6E-67XP engine now benefits from a 5000 FH overhaul schedule, compared to 3500 FH on the PC-12 NG and maintenance intervals every 600 hours, twice that of the PC-12 NG. Further, Pilatus’ customer service has just been voted number 1 for the 19th consecutive year!
